Butterscotch Pie

butterscotch pie, by the kosher foodies

This is one of the BEST desserts we have ever made. And stephanie and I make a ton of desserts. Let’s just say at a holiday table with about 10 desserts, this one finished. The pictures are from two different times we baked the pie. So that’s why you’ll see two different pie plates and two different kitchens.  Continue reading

Coconut Cream Pie

coconut cream pie, by the kosher foodies

Cream pies are just amazing desserts. I mean, custard, whipped cream, and cookie crusts, how can you go wrong? Well, you can’t. The only thing that’s so confusing is figuring out what kind of cream pie to make. This banana cream pie is a family favorite, but I decided to try something new. I adapted the recipe to make coconut cream pie and it was a huge hit! I’ll definitely be making it again. And very soon, because Zeke just loves banana cream pie.  Continue reading

Kibbe bil Sanieh/Ground Meat Pie

Okay, so have you ever had kibbe? No, not the meat stuffed meatballs that we made a little while back. The kind with a bulgur shell that you fry and eat with lemon or tahine. Well this has the flavors of kibbe, but is much easier to make.kibbe pie {the kosher foodies}

Onion Tarte Tatin

Caramelized onions are one of my favorite things ever, so any recipe that I come across that involves caramelized onions (or shallots) instantly goes on my to-do list! This one has literally been on there for years, and I really suggest you don’t wait as long as I did to make this. I never wanted to make it for a holiday, since my mom doesn’t like cooked onions (she tolerates raw ones, though…), but ended up making this at her house, anyway, as part of a huge meal, so don’t worry, she had plenty of options (like homemade pasta) to choose from!

Banana Cream Pie

…with cinnamon pastry cream and chocolate cookie crust.

Sounds amazing, huh? That’s why we’ve been waiting to make it for over a year. We finally had a chance. Most people who see me every day thought we were out of my mind for talking about it for a week straight. Too bad they didn’t get to taste it! Yes, this is the same pie that got comments on our giveaway post. Sorry. It took us months to post because we just couldn’t figure out how to describe to you how awesome it really is. Just take our word for it. Make this pie ASAP! Continue reading

Throwdown Banana Cream Pie

Somebody I know really likes banana cream pie. I really like Bobby Flay. So I decided to make Bobby Flay’s banana cream pie.

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Mainly because Bobby’s recipe calls for powdered vanilla pudding mix. Usually his recipes are a bit more complicated than mixes; not that there’s anything wrong with that. At least I made my own graham cracker crust…
