Easy Balsamic Salad Dressing

There are so many varieties of salad dressing available in the supermarket, but those are filled with oil and high fructose corn syrup! Isn’t salad supposed to be healthy? Control what’s in your dressing by making it yourself.

We have these cruets with little markers on the side telling you how much water, oil, and vinegar to put in, but I ignore the instructions; I skip the water and put more vinegar and less oil than is called for.

Ingredients:

  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of good olive oil

Directions:

  1. Mash up the garlic and salt into a paste
  2. Add all of the ingredients into a cruet and shake!

Obviously, you can make some changes. Sometimes I use deli mustard, and sometimes I use red wine vinegar (but balsamic is my favorite). Toss your favorite salad with your homemade difference and taste the difference.

It’s great for Passover, too, because even though most salad dressings don’t have hametz in them, the brands that bother getting a Passover hashkacha are usually gross.
